At the beginning of the semester, the first time I peer-reviewed the higher learning essay I made almost all local revisions such as comma suggestions or questioning MLA formatting concerns, which I learned in high school. Looking at my comments on my peer’s most recent essay about Big Data, I see a variety of different comments about ideas (claims and main argument), evidence, organization, and local issues. I tried to make global suggestions on options to delete or add sections. I learned to include suggestions for global changes when peer reviewing this semester. I, also, asked questions that I thought could be included in their paper. This can offer the availability to add another source and more evidence. From taking this course, my comments are much more valuable and helpful. By practicing peer review, it has helped me critique my own writing.
