For incorporating source material into my essay, I found myself referring to They Say, I Say often. From this book, I used transitional words and phrases to introduce my source either using quotations, paraphrasing, or summarizing to help the reader understand who is saying what. In addition, I tried to use Barclay’s Formula within my paragraphs in the attempt to make my essay flow. I wanted to make sure my evidence was analyzed in-depth and structurally worked well in my paragraph. I used the “lasagna” template. This helped me make sure I explained how the source either supported, complicated, or further developed my claim. Also, it guided me when deciphering when to include another source and when to transition.
