The Power of Believing that You Can Improve
I found the TED Talk “The Power of Believing that You Can Improve” by Carol Dweck very inspiring. Everyone comes to a point in their life where they do not succeed. “Not yet” is much more encouraging and more positive than saying “fail,” as discussed throughout the TED Talk. The word “yet” was repetitively used throughout Dweck’s talk emphasizing its importance to the message she is trying to get across. My annotations consisted of underlining important words that were repeated, interesting facts/phrases, and examples she gave supporting her argument. I find that underlining helps me signal important ideas that I may want to look back on when revisiting this TED talk. I made small comments along the margin and between paragraphs summarizing important themes, writing questions, and reflecting on certain phrases/examples.
